Harpegnathos venator

I recently bought a colony of Harpegnathos venator (also known as Giant Jumping Ant), and they are indeed a very interesting species. Their compound eyes are extremely large, giving them incredibly sharp eyesight (they can even track my movements through glass). Their mandibles resemble tweezers, and there are even records of their worker ants being capable of reproduction, replacing the queen.

This species is purely predatory, primarily feeding on crickets or cockroaches. They often give the impression that I'm raising a social group of praying mantises or jumping spiders.
